Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This website is run by Michael Crean, trading as Equipped Tools, a sole trader, at Unit 1C Brighouse Road, Riverside Park, Middlesbrough, TS2 1RT. In this policy "we" means Michael Crean trading as Equipped Tools. We are responsible for the personal data described here.
You can contact us at michael@equippedtools.com.
2. What we collect
- WhatsApp messages. If you message us on WhatsApp we receive your phone number, your WhatsApp profile name and whatever you send us. Our buttons open WhatsApp with a short message already written, which you can change before you send it.
- Email enquiries. If you email us we receive your email address and what you write.
- Enquiry form. If you use the form on our websites page we receive your name, your business name, your phone number and any message you add. The form sends these details to us by email.
- Business contact details from public sources. We contact some limited companies, LLPs and other incorporated businesses by email about our services. For these we collect the business name, its general business email address (such as info@ or hello@), its website address and town, and a few observations about its public website. We take these from the business's own website, Companies House and public business listings. We do not email sole traders or partnerships unless they have asked us to, and we do not use personal email accounts.
Apart from the technical details any website receives (see section 5) and the public business details described above, we only collect what you choose to send us.
3. Why we use it
We use it to reply to your enquiry and, if you ask us to, to build and run a website or provide a tool for you. We do this to take steps at your request before a contract, and because we have a legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us. When we email a business that has not contacted us first, we rely on our legitimate interest in telling businesses about services that are relevant to them. Every such email says who we are and how to opt out. If you reply asking us to stop, or object at any time, we stop straight away. We do not sell your data.
4. How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows, and we regularly delete old enquiries we no longer need. Public business contact details are deleted within 6 months if there is no reply. If you ask us not to contact you again, we keep only your email address and business name on a do-not-contact list, so that we never contact you again.
5. Analytics, cookies and fonts
This website does not use analytics and does not set cookies. Its fonts are served from this website itself. The website is hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, receives your IP address when your browser asks for a page. If you tap a WhatsApp button, WhatsApp (Meta) handles your message under its own privacy policy. If you use the enquiry form, your details pass through our website host (Vercel) and our email delivery service (Resend), and arrive in our email inbox, which is hosted by Microsoft 365. We use AI tools from Anthropic to help research public business details and draft emails, and every email is sent from our own Microsoft 365 mailbox. Some of these providers process data outside the UK.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask us to limit or stop using it. You can object to direct marketing at any time and we will stop. Email us at the address above, or simply reply "stop" to any email we sent you. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
